Out of sustainability considerations, Intercol participated in the establishment of a bee farm in Curaçao.
Why on Curaçao?
Right, for further awareness of environment, improving gestation (nectar-giving -flowering -plants) and fresh (rain) water management.
The project has special personal involvement from Intercol's owner Steven de Jong.
The 200 hives are now installed, the drip irrigation with 2 pcs, 80-metre deep wells are restored and powered on direct wind power.
"We will also harvest pollen (in addition to honey), and grow vegetables, vegetables are now mostly imported." The bee farm is self-sufficient and offers more opportunities for lessons at/with the schools on insects and self-reliance (less reliance on imports).
Did you know: Aloe Vera honey contributes to human health, according to the Bee Farm?
Did you know that Intercol also has beeswax in its range?
