Intercol was founded in 1972 as a company that saw opportunities to develop and produce environmentally friendly, water-based adhesives as an alternative to the solvent-containing adhesives that were widely used in the 1970s (adhesives with a lot of VOC).
Industrial application in all kinds of production processes
It is not easy to operate industrial processes efficiently for many of our customers. Running manufacturing is often a highly competitive field with global providers. Intercol is located in the heart of innovative industry, which is supported by many innovative and strong universities. The strength of the Dutch innovations can be seen, among other things, in highly successful companies such as ASML, which largely rely on the surrounding supply industry, good global accessibility, and the proximity of various top universities. Think of the solar cars of the universities of Delft, Eindhoven and Twente, but also of a top university such as Wageningen (WUR), which is the basis for many agricultural novelties. It is no coincidence that one of the world's largest agricultural innovators, Lely, also operates from the Netherlands.
The Netherlands is also a forerunner in chemistry
The Netherlands is also a forerunner in chemical terms, with a port such as Rotterdam for basic chemicals, companies such as AKZO, DSM, Avebe and Ten Cate. Intercol can benefit from the innovation of machines and the availability of chemical knowledge, and thus develop the right adhesive for different industrial processes.
Responsible base of adhesives
Intercol's adhesives are usually either water-based or 100% solids such as a hot melt. The water based adhesives are mostly PVAC based, UAE, starch and sugars. These are practically VOC-free glues, as evidenced by the fact that these technologies are permitted for the production of food packaging.
