Solid content of an adhesive

Many solvent-based or water-based adhesives contain part of the actual glue and part of the carrier used to apply the glue. This carrier is in many cases water. Many of our adhesives contain approximately 50% water. The amount of water is often expressed in “solid matter”. The solids in our adhesives are usually about 50%. Some adhesives have a solid of 10%, and others of 80%. By formulating we can adjust the quantity. The amount of solid matter and the amount of binder can be supplemented with additives such as wetting agents and adhesion promoters.
